Susan Faye South (nee Drake) of Horsham, Pa. died Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 at Jefferson Health Hospice in Warminster. She was 80 years old. Born in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Donald R. Drake and Stella (nee Welch) Drake. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was the loving Mother of Bruce (Pamela), Brian (Laura), Maria (Peter) and John South. Grandmother to Christopher, Nicholas, John Berry, Steven, Lesley, Ashley (Scott) Fann and Lindsey. Great Grandmother to Arianna and Jackson, Elsie, Lincoln and Logan, 5 month old twins and Layontae, Lyric, Nyah Leon, Scottlyn and Jayla. Also surviving is her dear cousin Marlene Chapman 85, her brother David L. (Fran) Drake and nephew Matthew and 2 nephews from her late brother Donald (Sandy) Drake, Darrell Drake and Bradford Drake. Her husband preceded her in death in 2000 and while divorced, remained dear in each others hearts. Also, the late Wolfgang Bernt, who was faithful companion, for 30 years. There are myriad sons, daughters, grandkids, great grandkids, cousins and in-laws too numerous to mention. Susan loved deeply and dearly and remained an active part in each life up until her death. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at a much later date and will include a celebration of her life in spring of 2020. Donations in her memory can be made to your favorite animal shelter.

Good night, good night, sleep well and when you dream, dream of me tonight.

My memories come from way back--as a friend of Maria's, hanging out at the South house-- I always felt welcome. Susan South had a warm relaxed manner with us teenagers. She was so easygoing and always made me feel very comfortable to be there. Completely nonjudgmental and always interested in what I was 'up to.' She was like a glowing ember, warm and comfortable. My heart goes out in sadness with Maria and everyone in the family.

Mom was the most loving and thoughtful Mother in law. I always loved the way she called me “Pammy” . She gave the best hugs and her laugh was contagious. She was incredibly selfless and always made you feel loved. I can’t express how much she will be missed. Mom will be forever in our hearts ♥️

Such a loving, thoughtful, kind lady. I wish I could have spent more time with her 😢. She never forgot a birthday or Christmas since I first met her 29 years ago even for the 2 other children that I had that were not her grandchildren. That’s how special she was!

Loved sharing last Cinco de Maya (we did enjoy our BYOB margheritas) with her and this past Trick or Treat party. Her sense of adventure and humor was something to behold. Much love to all. ❤

The members of Hatboro Baptist Church will miss Susan dearly. Her positive spirit and friendliness was a blessing to all of us.
