Timothy M. Murphy, Sr., of Warminster, passed away into God’s loving care on Monday, September 9, 2019 at his residence. He was 70 years old. “Tim” as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was born in Philadelphia on June 19, 1949 to the late Raymond A. Murphy and Maura T. (née McNicholas) Murphy. He was the husband to Marie A. (née Kettell) Murphy with whom he is survived by and together they would have shared 45 years of marriage this November 16th. Tim Graduated from Mercy Technical Vocational School and then served in the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Specialist 5. During his time in the Army, he was stationed in Germany and also served in Vietnam. Tim then worked as a Patrol Officer for the Philadelphia Police Department and retired after 25 years of service. In his free time, Tim enjoyed watching the Phillies and the Eagles, relaxing on his backyard deck, and reading his daily newspaper. With good nature and humor intended, he also enjoyed assigning nicknames to his friends, family, and neighbors; sometimes without their knowledge or approval.

In addition to his wife Marie, Tim is survived by his three children; Karen M. Whitmore (Robert), Timothy M. Murphy, Jr. (Alexis), and Kelly A. Freer. Tim is also survived by eleven grandchildren; Kayla, Riley, Emma, Erin, Hannah, Megan, Lily, Sean, Broderick, Bobby, Timothy and one great granddaughter, Peyton. He will also be fondly remembered by his ten siblings; Raymond Murphy (Virginia), Maureen Murphy, Robert Murphy, Francis Murphy (Mary), Margaret Meyer (Steve), John Murphy, Gerilyn Forney (William), Kathryn McCauley (James), Regina Poland, and Michael Murphy.
Relatives and friends and members of the Philadelphia Police Department are invited to Tim’s Life Celebration on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the church of St. Robert Bellarmine, 856 Euclid Ave. Warrington, PA 18976 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. followed by his funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Tim’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
