Floyd Everet Luxton, 94, passed away on August 28, 2019, at Arden Courts in Hatboro, PA, his home for the last year. A devoted husband and loving father to four daughters, Floyd led a full and active life. The son of Richard and Anna (Worrell) Luxton, Floyd was born on May 21, 1925, in Buckingham Township, PA. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1942, he was assigned to the USS Chachalaca (AMc41), an Accentor-class coastal minesweeper serving in the Pacific Ocean theater. An honored veteran of World War II, Floyd served his country proudly for seven years. He was employed for 31 years by U.S. Steel, serving as Foreman in the Maintenance Department at the Fairless Works in Fairless Hills, PA. Retiring to Sun City Center, FL in 1984, Floyd became an avid golfer and active member of the SCC Community Center. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. He was a member and Exalted Ruler of South Hillsborough Elks Lodge #2672, and a member of the Ruskin Memorial VFW Post 6287.

Floyd is survived by his four daughters, Shirley (Dave) Sadowl, Sharon Tyrell, Gladys (Jonathan)Stiner, and Kathy (Jack) Byron; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce (Luxton) Merica, and many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Ellie.
Floyd’s family will be receiving guests from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Decker Funeral Home, 216 York Road in Warminster, PA 18974 with funeral services beginning at 4:00 p.m. Floyd will be laid to rest alongside his loving wife of 61 years, Bertha Landis (Stover) Luxton, who predeceased him in 2009, at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL on Friday, September 6, 2019. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Floyd’s memory may be made to the Elks Veterans Services, BPOE Lodge #2672, PO Box 1209, Ruskin FL 33575-1209 or to a charity of one’s choice.
