Donald Thoms Stratton, of Souderton, formerly of Warminster, passed away surrounded by loving family on August 20, 2019 at age 85.
Born in Pittston, PA, Donald was the son of the late Jean Watson and Alfred North Stratton, and brother of the late Robert Watson Stratton.
Donald was the loving husband of his wife and best friend Dorothea with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. Donald is survived by his daughter Michele, his son Christopher, his stepson Robert (Dana), and his stepdaughter Deborah (Joe). He was PopPop to eight beautiful grandchildren: Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Miranda, Chris, Jordan, Andrew, Lauren and Elena.
Donald graduated from Central High School in Scranton, PA. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Army in Seoul, Korea. Stationed on Paengnyong-do Island just south of the 38th parallel, he was a member of the United States Army Security Agency. Donald was the ultimate American patriot while taking great pride in his staunch Scottish heritage. Donald was dedicated to his lifework as a fair and compassionate claims adjuster for the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company before he enjoyed 24 adventurous years of retirement.
Don was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed many camping trips with his family. In his more recent years, Don became the family’s stock market and investment expert. He also spent many hours researching his Scottish Ancestry. Don loved all family gatherings …especially Christmas Eve.
A natural leader, he served as President and as Commissioner of the Warminster Girls’ Softball Association in the 1970’s. He was most proud of his coaching years when he led the Warminster Women’s Fast Pitch Softball Class A Team to a National Championship won in Fargo, ND in 1976. Don served as President and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hidden Springs Home Owner Association. He will be remembered for his tremendous work and passion in every endeavor.
Don Stratton will be missed so very much by so very many.
Relatives and friends are invited to share in Donald’s Life Celebration on Saturday, August 31st beginning at noon at Hidden Springs Community Clubhouse, 355 Kingspond Lane, Souderton. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Donald’s name would be most appreciated to benefit the amazing work of Grandview Hospice.

Don was our neighbor in Hidden Springs for ten wonderful years. We enjoyed our talks over the deck railing, comparing camping trips we’ve been on, going out to dinner, & our dog Angel certainly enjoyed the treats he always seemed to have for her. Don & Dot are two of the reasons we love living here so much. He will be greatly missed & we will continue to be here for Dot for whatever we can help her with. Rest In Peace my dear friend.
