Kass was the youngest of 4 children born to Raymond and Katie South. She attended Hatboro High School. Shortly after, Kass began her career as a beautiful stay at home mother where she would enjoy dressing up her children as dolls and playing “Tea Party”. She loved to entertain the neighbors of Whitehall Drive. As her children got older, Kass started her career in the restaurant field as a waitress, cook, and then chef. In her later years, she began her famous “Kass’s Crab Cake” business, even selling them in restaurants in LBI.
Kass was a proud, not so anonymous, friend of Bill W for 28 years. She was everybody’s friend known to
many as Momma Kass. She also loved to attend Mass wherever she went.
Kass loved playing board games, cards and bowling. She overcame the hurdles of breast cancer, lung cancer, the deaths of her husbands, and the death of her daughter while continuing to help anyone in need. She was always generous and kind to everyone.
She was fortunate enough to purchase her parent’s house on Springdale Ave. in Hatboro where “Kass’s Place” was the gathering place for friends and family any time, day or night. Her dream was to own a home in LBI and her dream came true in 2000 when she purchased her “baby shore house”. Again, she had an open door policy. A few years ago, Kass and Billy bought a place in Venice, Florida where they could enjoy the warm winters. She spent the last years of her life going to meetings, traveling, entertaining and eating out with family and friends. She never sat still. Her last words were “I love you all”. We love you too Mom.
Thank you to the staff of Abington Hospice at Warminster for taking great care of our Mother.
