December 17, 1926 - March 4, 2019
After a courageous battle with cancer, Elsie Mae (Hageman) Appel passed away peacefully at
the home of Agnes and John Harris in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, on March 4, 2019, at the age
of 92. As a strong force of nature, Elsie was a selfless individual who gave years of service to
her community and friends. She was a lifetime member of the Warwick Volunteer Fire Company
serving both in the Auxiliary as well as in the Fire Police unit. For many years, Elsie was a
strong supporter of local politics, showing support as a poll volunteer for many elections.
Throughout her life, she dabbled in woodworking and many different types of handmade crafts.
Even though many of the senior citizens were younger than her, she was often involved in
assisting and supporting her local Senior citizens in whatever capacity she could. Active well
into her later years, Elsie was an active participant in local bowling leagues and until just a few
months ago was an avid artist with the Ivyland Art Group, showing her work at local art shows.
This amazingly talented, caring woman had more friends than most can ever dream of having.
She will be missed by all who have ever had the privilege of being in the presence of this
Elsie is survived by her sister, Margaret Harding, her 3 daughters and their spouses: Penny and
Skip MacAdams. Aggie and John Harris, and Terry and Peter Chesnovitz as well as her beloved
grandchildren: John Harris III, Staci Tosh, Peter Chesnovitz, Arielle Chesnovitz, and several
great grandchildren. Elsie is now reunited with the love of her life, Edward A. Appel, her
husband for over 60 years. Rest peacefully “Little Lukey”!
