Condolence From: Pat
Condolence: John and Melanie,
My heart is very sad with this news of Russell! I remember our times together on the farm! In the hay and on the tractor. What great memories I have and I know you loved him well! Sending you my love and prayers in this difficult time.

Condolence: John and Melanie,
I was so saddened to hear of Russell's passing. As I said to Thad, Russ was as wanted and cherished as any child I know. As I unfortunately know from my family experience, addiction is hard to break free from. My prayers are with you and your family.

Condolence: Melanie and John- What great memories to keep in your heart, the love of your life was taken too soon due to this horrible disease. You are in my thoughts and prayers always. I cannot imagine what you are going through, yet know that there are people who love and support you through this.

Condolence From: Lori Yannuzzi
Condolence: Melanie and John, I have been trying to come up with some comforting words since learning of Russell's passing. I know the hurt all to well. We lost our son Alex three years ago today to the demons that chased him and hunted him down. I saw you two I think it was in December and we always just hug and share a painful look. You, feeling terrible of what we have been through, and I feeling so sad of what you face every day hoping and praying that it will stop. I and the other parents that have shared here truly understand your pain. I do know that our children hate this addiction as much as we do. They try desperately to run from it, but it's just so powerful. I know that you did everything you could. I could see it in your eyes whenever I see you. We are so very sorry for your loss. My heart is breaking. May your precious memories keep you strong during the most difficult time in your lives. Please take care of yourselves.

Condolence: As a parent from the Malvern parent support group please accept my sincere condolences. I have a 24-year-old in jail but know when eventually released he too can fall. Please know Russell is at peace and one day you will meet again. My heart is broken for your loss. May God bring you peace in the future.

Condolence From:
Condolence: John and Melanie, this excerpt from The Prophet was shared by someone who has endured your same pain. My deepest condolences.

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
