Obituary for Thomas Kersteter

Thomas F. Kersteter formerly of Horsham, PA, passed away on January 13,
2018. He was 80 years old and the husband of the late Leilani Kersteter.
Born in Germantown, PA, he was the son of Oscar and Ruth (Faries)
Kersteter. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great
grandfather. He is survived by his Daughters, Donna Walsh (Tom) and
Denise McAndrew (Hal), his grandchildren, Mark (Jillian), Nicole,
Jennifer and Samantha, and great-granddaughter, Violet. He loved his
family and his friends very much. He loved the time he spent with his wife,
the love of his life, and traveling to Cape May. Nothing gave him more joy
and pride than his daughters, he thought the world of them. “PopPop”,
was very proud of his grandchildren. He often said of his sons-in-law he
could not have asked for better men to take care of his daughters and
grandchildren. He graduated from Germantown High School in 1956.
His curriculum in High School was Trade Preparatory where he learned the
trade of auto mechanics. After graduation he continued working on cars
and ultimately owned and operated Jenkintown Garage. When closing his
station after 25+ years, he brought the station to his home and enjoyed
working on his own fleet. He enjoyed watching and cheering on the
Phillies, Flyers and Eagles. He loved his home where he lived for over 50
years. He was a hard worker and you would find him either redoing a
room, cutting the yard, raking leaves, on a ladder, putting something
together, or working in his garage which he built. If you stopped by the
house, “Tommy K” would always ask if you wanted “a cool one” (beer).
Growing up, he was active in playing Glenside Youth Baseball/North Penn
Youth league and played first base. He was a Mason and belonged to the
Friendship-Williams Masonic Lodge #400, in Jenkintown. He was a
member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and U. S. Army
Reserve. He will truly be missed, his laughter, humor and jokes. RIP
daddy. You are now with the love of your life. We will miss you. All our
love.
Relatives and friends will be receive after 10:00 am on Saturday, January
20, 2018, in the Decker Funeral Home, 216 York Road, Warminster until
the time of the his service at 11:00 am. , followed by a Masonic Service.
Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice in
memory of Thomas F. Kersteter.
